Network Rules

Simple expectations that keep CosmicIRC welcoming for everyone.

By connecting to CosmicIRC you agree to follow these rules. They exist to keep the network safe, friendly, and worth being part of. Network staff enforce them with discretion, and their decisions are final.

The rules

1 — Respect everyoneTreat all users and staff with courtesy. Disagreement is fine; personal attacks, hostility, and bad-faith behaviour are not.
2 — No spam or floodingNo advertising, mass messaging, repeated text, or automated abuse. Don't disrupt channels or private messages with noise.
3 — No harassment or hateNo threats, stalking, hate speech, or discrimination of any kind. Everyone is welcome here regardless of background.
4 — Keep it legalNo sharing of illegal, malicious, or harmful content. No distributing malware, exploits, or material that endangers others.
5 — No impersonationDon't pretend to be other users, staff, or network services. Register your nickname to protect your own identity.
6 — Don't attack the networkNo attempts to exploit, overload, evade bans, or otherwise disrupt the service or its users.
7 — Protect minorsAny content that sexualises or endangers minors is strictly forbidden and will be reported. Zero tolerance.

Enforcement

Depending on severity, breaking these rules may result in a warning, removal from a channel, a temporary ban, or permanent removal from the network. Serious violations may be acted on immediately and without warning.

Channel founders may also set additional rules for their own channels. Respect those too.

Reporting a problem

If you witness rule-breaking or have a concern, contact a network operator in-channel, or email admin@cosmicirc.com. Reports are handled discreetly.

These rules may be updated as the network grows. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
