CosmicIRC is an independent Internet Relay Chat (IRC) network — a place to talk, in real time, with other people who value text-based community over algorithms and noise. There is no feed, no engagement loop, and nothing trying to keep you scrolling. Just channels, conversation, and the people in them.
We are open to all topics. Whether you're here to talk technology, games, music, books, current events, or simply to hang out and meet people, there's room for it. Channels grow around whatever the community cares about, and anyone can start one.
IRC has been around since 1988, and it endures for good reasons. It's lightweight, works on almost any device, and respects your attention. Conversations are live and unmediated. You own your identity through a registered nickname, and you decide what you share. It's the opposite of the modern attention economy — and that's the point.
